Key Questions and Responses
Q1: From an architectural/design perspective, how possible is it to integrate our device onto existing floating pile docks?
A: The integration seems to be very possible. Most floating pile docks have enough spacing and structural stability to support add ons to the structure like your device. Key points to considure though when doing this might include resistance to oxidation from the water, easy access for maintenance, and how the device’s weight will affect the dock’s stability.

Q2: Are there any risks to the structure or dock specific concerns we should be aware of when installing our units?
A: Depending on the marina, some piles may have higher wave or tide activity. It would be important to make sure that the way you mount takes into account for both vertical movement and stability on the sides. Additionally, it’s important to review local regulations about additions to the dock, especially in more regulated coastal parts.

Q3: Might our product design cause any long-term durability concerns in these marine environments?
A: Assuming your materials are rated for saltwater conditions, your unit should hold up well. Make sure to account for UV resistance and corrosion/oxidization from the water. Routine maintenance and checks, maybe twice a year, would be more than enough.

Q4: What do you think about our prototype from an engineering perspective?
A: The prototype looks practical and efficient. I’d recommend strengthening the points that are mounted and considering a bracket system that you can also scale depending on the size of the piles needed. A more modular design could simplify installation for the parts that you haven’t scaled yet.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q5: What improvements would you suggest before we start large scale production?
A: Before scaling, you might want to invest in a universal kit that can be sized up. I’d also suggest creating weatherproof areas for your electronic and vulnerable parts. If you’re incorporating smart features later, leave room to expand within the casings of the prototype.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Q6: Would the system be allowed or cause any problems with local regulations?
A: It depends on the municipality. In the U.S., most marinas just require a simple permit for structural dock additions, but if the unit touches the water or affects the boat channels, that could trigger additional review. You guys should always speak to local regulation officers to know best how to implement them.
